DAVIS, Calif. – Up the road at the Butte Creek Country Club in Chico, junior-to-be Mark Stephens fired a 12-under 132 to join teammate Jacob Westberg as qualifiers for the 122^nd U.S. Amateur.

Stephens shot back-to-back rounds of 6-under (66) at the par-72, 7,000-yard course. The Redding, Calif., native carded 14 birdies in the two rounds and only posted two bogeys. On the back-nine in the second and final round, Stephens used a 5-under 31 to secure his spot in the prestigious field.

Stephens earned honorable mention accolades after finishing t-4th at the Big West Conference Championship. The Redding, Calif., native fired his best 54-hole score at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational with an 8-under 208, which included a season-best round of 65. He was the Aggies' top finisher at the NCAA Regional with a 2-under 214.

The 2022 U.S. Amateur will be held at The Ridgewood and Arcola Country Clubs in Paramus, N.J., on Aug. 15-21.

Stroke play runs from Aug. 15-16 with 18 holes each day, followed by the round of 64 in match play on Aug. 17. The field will be further whittled down with the round of 32 and round of 16 matches on Aug. 18, with the quarterfinal (Aug. 19) and semifinal (Aug. 20) matches to follow. The 36-hole championship match will be played on Aug. 21.
