CHULA VISTA, Calif. – The UC Davis men's golf team opened the Lumkin Grips San Diego Classic tied for ninth place after two rounds at the San Diego Country Club. The Aggies fired a 1-under 575, carding a 286 in the morning round and then a 289 in the afternoon tilt.
Senior
Thomas Hutchison once again led UC Davis with a 2-under 142. Hutchison sank six birdies on the first day of action to place t25th.
Sophomore
Lucas Carper followed in t33rd with a 1-under 143. Carper drilled nine birdies in the two rounds and shot a front-nine score of 34 in the first round.
Like Hutchison and Carper, sophomore
Mark Stephens fired a 1-under 71 in the first round and finished the day with a 1-over-145. Classmate
Jacob Westberg carded a 2-over 146 while sophomore
Alejandro Nava followed with a 5-over 149.
The Aggies will tee off at 8:30 a.m. to close out tournament play.
