COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Freshman Trenton Stuart tied for 13th in his collegiate debut to lead the UC Davis men's golf team to a tie for sixth Monday at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational at Eisenhower Golf Club.

The Aggies closed with a 5-over-par 293 on the Blue Course, finishing the 54-hole tournament at 1-under 863 (285-285-293). UC Davis shared sixth place with UC Santa Barbara in the 18-team field, one stroke ahead of host Air Force.

Stuart finished at 3-under 213 (68-69-76), leading the Aggies after sharing the individual lead through each of the first two rounds. The freshman opened his collegiate career with consecutive rounds in the 60s before closing with a 76 Monday.

Curtis Da Silva delivered UC Davis' lowest final round with a 4-under 68, climbing 25 places into a tie for 53rd at 5-over 221 (80-73-68). The senior made six birdies, including three straight on Nos. 5-7, and birdied the 18th to complete matching 2-under 34s on the front and back nine.

Ryan Firpo shot a 73 Monday to finish tied for 37th at 2-over 218 (74-71-73). Shaun Nair tied for 48th at 4-over 220 (71-73-76), while Treed Huang joined Da Silva in a tie for 53rd at 221 (72-72-77).

Colorado won the team title at 30-under 834, 15 strokes ahead of Denver and UTEP. Wyoming's Brody Leid earned individual medalist honors at 9-under 207, one stroke ahead of Denver's Arthur Akpinar.

In the separate individual tournament on the Silver Course, Zhenxian Zhang fired a bogey-free 67 to finish fourth at 8-under 208 (70-71-67). Zhang birdied Nos. 1, 4, 7, 8 and 10 before closing with eight consecutive pars, completing all three rounds under par. He finished three strokes behind Joey Allan, Casey Kosney and Gavin Amella, who tied atop the leaderboard at 11-under 205.

Cooper Greenwood and Louis Grizot each closed with a 2-under 70, giving UC Davis three top-10 finishes in the Silver Course event. Greenwood tied for sixth at 4-under 212 (68-74-70), while Grizot placed 10th at 1-under 215 (71-74-70).

UC Davis returns to competition Sept. 28-29 at the Windon Memorial Classic in Lake Forest, Ill.
