LAKE FOREST, Ill. — Zhenxian Zhang fired a career-best 6-under-par 64 Tuesday to capture a share of his first collegiate individual title at the Windon Memorial Classic at Onwentsia Club.

The sophomore finished at 8-under 202 (68-70-64), matching Cal Poly's Frederick Egnatios atop the 88-player field. Zhang entered the final round tied for seventh, three strokes off the lead, before posting the lowest round of the tournament. The co-champions finished three strokes ahead of Northwestern's Kuan Zhou in third.

Zhang's winning round featured an eagle on the par-5 third hole and five birdies against just one bogey. He birdied Nos. 4, 10, 11, 15 and 16, playing the front nine in 2-under 33 and the back nine in 4-under 31 on the par-70, 6,716-yard course.

The title marked UC Davis' first collegiate individual victory since Louis Grizot won the AF Silver Individual at the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational on Sept. 22, 2025, while the most recent Aggie champion in the main field of a team tournament was Treed Huang, who shared the 2023 Alister MacKenzie title at 16-under 197.

Zhang also joined Thomas Hutchison among Aggies to win the Windon Memorial Classic; Hutchison captured the title in 2018.

UC Davis posted its lowest team round of the tournament with an even-par 280, finishing 14th at 17-over 857 (293-284-280). The Aggies improved their score each round, closing four strokes better than Monday's afternoon round and 13 better than their opening round.

Curtis Da Silva shot an even-par 70 to finish tied for 12th at 1-under 209 (71-68-70). The senior made three birdies Tuesday and earned his second top-15 finish in three tournaments this season.

Trenton Stuart improved four strokes with a final-round 71, finishing tied for 76th at 13-over 223 (77-75-71). Ryan Firpo joined Stuart at 223 after rounds of 77, 71 and 75, while Shaun Nair tied for 85th at 21-over 231 (77-76-78).

Kansas won the team title at 4-under 836, one stroke ahead of Washington. Notre Dame finished third at 1-under 839.

UC Davis returns to competition Oct. 4-6 at the Trinity Forest Invitational in Dallas.
