Aggies celebrate seniors with win over CSUN in home finale

DAVIS, Calif. - The Aggies sent their seniors out on a high note on Saturday evening, defeating CSUN 68-49 in the 2021-22 season home finale.

It was the biggest win by UC Davis since a 17-point win over the same CSUN squad on Jan. 20.

The Aggies (12-8, 5-4) had three players score in double figures, led by Christian Anigwe, who matched his career-high with 20 points, eight rebounds and three blocks. Elijah Pepper tacked on 15 points and Ezra Manjon added 12 points. Kane Milling was a wildly effective plus-29 over 30 minutes on Saturday, finishing with five points, five rebounds, three assists and a steal.

Led by Anigwe's three, UC Davis' 13 offensive rebounds were its most since Jan. 27 against Cal State Fullerton. The Aggies also shot over 80 percent from the free throw line with more than 20 free throws for the second time in three games, going 21-25 on Saturday.

After jumping out to a 23-16 advantage with 8:31 to go in the first half, the Aggies went on a 9-0 run with 5:58 left to increase their lead to 32-16 and led 36-24 at the break.

Following intermission, UC Davis led by as much as 42-29 before going on an 8-0 run, finished off by Aaron Murphy's layup, to grow the lead to 50-29 with 11:21 to go in the contest. Leading comfortably in the final minutes, the Aggies used their remaining timeouts to allow standing ovations for seniors Cameron Ba and B.J. Shaw

The Aggies are in the midst of a fight for the sixth seed in the Big West that would see them advance directly to the quarterfinals of the tournament. They'll close out the regular season on the road next week against Long Beach State and Cal State Fullerton on Mar. 3 and 5.
