THE TIP OFF
- A long break for the Aggies, this matchup against Holy Names will be the first game in 12 days for UC Davis and one of the last remaining non-conference opponents for the season.
- UC Davis continues to rate out as one of the best offenses in the country due to their pace of play and ability to get downhill.
- At the time of this writing, UC Davis is 12th in the nation in free throw attempts per game and has been consistently breaking down the oppositions POA defender.
- Tied for 76th in the nation in scoring offense, the Aggies know they can keep climbing up these rankings if they just tighten up their percentages from the charity stripe.
- On top of their torrid offense, UC Davis has been a strong rebounding team all year, bringing in 41.22 per game, good for 18th in the country.
- Leading the offense for Davis has been Elijah Pepper who is just under 20 points per game on the year with 19.4, while Ty Johnson is averaging 17.2 points per game.
- Pepper is now 21st all-time in UC Davis scoring with 1,060 points and figures to keep climbing the all-time ranks. His last game against UOP he poured in 19 points with 10 rebounds for a double-double. He is leading UC Davis in rebounds per game at 6.9.
- Ty Johnson has been the pace car for Davis and while he has been electric on offense, his knack for the ball on the defensive end of the court has been generating easy buckets for the Aggie offense. He leads the team with 21 steals.
- Newcomer Robby Beasley III has also started to hit his stride with back-to-back double figure scoring games, after he scored a Davis career-high 16 last game against UOP.
- Christian Anigwe has been a constant presence for the Aggies in the middle as he is the third member on the team averaging double digits in scoring but it has been his effort on the defensive end of the court that stands out. He has a team-high 17 blocks on the season. He set a career-high with five in the last game against UOP, breaking his previous career-high he set just a game prior, against Boston in which he recorded four.
- Ade Adebayo rounds out the starting cast for Coach Jim Les and he has been contributing all over the court. Usually tasked with guarding the opposing teams best player, Adebayo has shown growth offensively as well, and this was on full display at the Cream City Classic where he scored a career-high 13 points, and had another 10 point showing. Both of those games were the first time Adebayo had reached double digit scoring in his career and his growth has been a welcome addition to a team looking to compete for a Big West Championship.
