Lucas Carper set a new personal collegiate best with a 5-under 67, while returning junior
Thomas Hutchison ended his third round at even par on Tuesday, helping lead the UC Davis men's golf team to a tie for sixth in the 23-team field at the 2021 Wyoming Cowboy Classic at the Whirlwind Golf Club in Chandler, Ariz.
After wrapping up the final few holes of Monday's second round that was suspended due to darkness, Carper got to work, tearing up the back nine to the tune of 4-under and finished off his round with a birdie on the par-5 second hole en route to the lowest round of his UC Davis career. Carper's previous low was a 68 carded in the final round of this year's The Prestige and marked his fifth career round in the 60s.
He ended the tournament in a tie for 39th alongside teammate
Alejandro Nava, who was 2-under after the first two rounds, finishing the two-day event with a 1-over 217.
Hutchison, who led the team with 13 birdies for the tournament, wrapped up his week with an even-par 72 on Tuesday after finishing his second round at even par and ended the event in a tie for 28th thanks to a 1-under 215. He finished with four birdies on the back nine and birdied three of his final four holes on the day en route to his best finish of the season.

Jacob Westberg finished Tuesday's final round with a 77 to end the tournament in a tie for 52nd, while returning sophomore
Daniel Kim posted his fifth career round in the 60s with a 3-under 69 in the second round before carding a 75 in Tuesday's final round to finish in a tie for 64th at 5-over.
Overall, San Diego State won the team title at 33-under for the two-day event, shading second-place TCU by six shots. Stanford's Barclay Brown took home individual medalist honors with a 14-under 202, winning by two strokes.
UC Davis returns to play this coming weekend, hosting the three-day El Macero Classic at the El Macero Country Club in El Macero, Calif. The 15-team field features Cal Poly, Fresno State, Cal State Fullerton, Idaho, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount, Nevada, Pacific, Sacramento State, Saint Mary's San Francisco, Santa Clara, Texas Rio Grande Valley, and Washington State.
Play begins with tee times off holes 1 and 10 at 8 a.m. on all three days, beginning Saturday (April 10) and running through Monday (April 12). More details on the event are available at https://www.elmaceroclassic.com with live scoring available via GolfStat all three days.
