Aggies up two spots to ninth in San Diego

Hutchison moves into the top 10, Westberg jumps up 31 spots

CHULA VISTA, Calif. — Returning junior Thomas Hutchison and returning freshman Jacob Westberg tied for team honors with a low round of 73 on Tuesday, helping the UC Davis men's golf team jump two spots into ninth place after 36 holes of the 2021 Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic at the San Diego Country Club in Chula Vista, Calif.

UCLA leads the team event after jumping three places to take over the top spot at 1-under after two days of play. The Bruins lead second-place Nevada by nine shots and also claim the individual leader after 36 holes in Devon Bling, who holds a three-shot lead at 7-under.

Tied for 17th after day one, Hutchison carded five birdies en route to his second-round 73 after finishing day one with a 1-under 71, jumping nine spots on the leaderboard into the top 10. He is tied with four other players at even par for the event, seven shots off the pace.

Westberg, meanwhile, made the biggest leap of any Aggie on the day, moving up 31 spots into a tie for 46th with his second-round 73, putting him at 6-over for the tournament. He is just behind teammate Lucas Carper, who sits in a tie for 37th at 5-over following a 77 on day two.

Newcomer Alejandro Nava moved up three spots into a tie for 46th, while Mark Stephens rounds out the scoring group in a tie for 107th.

Play concludes with the final round on Wednesday (March 10) at 7:10 a.m., with the Aggies going off the first hole along with players from Kansas, BYU, and San Diego State. Live scoring is available via GolfStat at http://results.golfstat.com/public/leaderboards/gsnav.cfm?pg=team&tid=22005.
