DAVIS, Calif. -- A bye weekend from competition followed by the university's winter quarter final examinations week has UC Davis men's and women's track & field eagerly returning to competition... and returning to the familiar setting of Sacramento State's Hornet Stadium. The Aggies take on a field that includes their host and Causeway Classic rivals plus the likes of Cal, Stanford, San Jose State and Montana State on Saturday.

• Junior Anthony Easter is the highest-ranked Aggie in the West, with his 52.68 at Fullerton listing him third... Will Sornberger is sixth in the same event (53.73)
• Sophomore Matthew Okonkwo lead the Big West in the 400 at 47.56, good for 4th on the West Region leaderboard.
• Freshman Sierra Atkins ranks 4th among all West athletes in both the 1,500 (4:26.29) and 5,000 (16:51.03).
• Sophomore Marlene Gutierrez paces the Big West in the shot put at 14.33 meters, or 47 feet, 0.25 inches... She hit that mark at Cal State Fullerton's triangular meet, edging UCSB's Tori Palma by 0.35 meters, and now ranks 9th in the West Region.
• Freshman Kerrington Smith leads all Big West triple jumpers with her 12.08m (39-7.75) in the Sac State Tri-Team Challenge in February, a mark that earned her Big West Female Field Athlete of the Week.
• Junior Jered Española was the first Big West athlete in 2021 to clear five meters in the pole vault (5.01m/16-5.25), a feat that leads the league and earned him Male Field Athlete of the Week distinction... He sits 7th in the West.
