FRESNO, Calif. — UC Davis track and field wrapped up a successful two-day stretch at the West Coast Relays, headlined by five individual event victories. Competing against a deep field at Fresno State, the Aggies combined for 11 total podium finishes to highlight a strong weekend of competition.
HOW IT HAPPENED (MEN):
The men's squad was highlighted by a dominant performance in the field from
Aidan Hagerty, who secured an event victory by clearing 5.19m to take first place in the pole vault.
Jake Joerger also earned a podium spot, finishing third in the discus with a toss of 51.09m.
On the track, Zachary Jones delivered a blistering 10.59 in the 100m dash to take fourth place, leading a strong sprint group. The men's 4x100m relay team of
Jacob Beals,
Erik Erdiakoff,
Riley Leyva, and
Luke Wales also posted a top-five finish, crossing the line in 41.10.
HOW IT HAPPENED (WOMEN):
The UC Davis women recorded four first-place finishes, headlined by
Kylee Davis, who secured a victory in the long jump with a mark of 5.94m.
Kadidja Sangare also reached the top of the podium, dominating the 100m hurdles to win in 13.84, while adding a second-place finish in the long jump (5.91m). On the track,
Maya Shinnick proved to be the class of the field in the 400m dash, taking first place with a time of 54.49, and
Brooke Butler capped off the evening session with a victory in the 5000m run, clocking in at 17:53.75.
The distance crew saw a strong runner-up finish from
Grace Dunham in the 3000m Steeplechase (11:44.53) and a fifth-place effort from
Gracie Trenam in the 1500m (4:35.33). In the throwing events,
Maya Ifo-Desai earned second place in the shot put (14.30m) and fifth in the discus (43.65m), while
Ningning O'Brien took third in the discus (46.36m). Rounding out the top track performances,
Anicia Garvin placed fourth in the 400m (56.73),
Dominika Janik took third in the 800m (2:11.49), and the 4x100m and 4x400m relay squads both secured top-five finishes.
