DAVIS, Calif. – UC Davis' season-opening 18-game homestand, which includes all 14 of its non-conference games, will continue this weekend when the Portland Pilots visit Phil Swimley Field at Dobbins Stadium for three games.

Sunday's doubleheader will start at 11:30 a.m., the series will conclude the following day with a 1 p.m. matchup. Since fans are unable to attend home events this season, due to Yolo County Public Health guidelines and game day protocols, video streams and live stats are available for each game between the Aggies and Pilots.

UC Davis will enter its upcoming set of games on a positive note after recording a 13-5 blowout victory over Washington State. In last Sunday's game, the top of the Aggies' lineup — comprised by Jalen Smith, Cooper Morrison and Michael Campagna — scored 10- runs, drove in five and blasted three home runs. In that same game, Nolan Meredith picked up his first win of the year by allowing only one run in his five innings on the mound. Nathan Peng also shined that day by fanning six of 12 batters faced throughout the final three innings of that game.

No Big West team scored more runs last weekend (22) or recorded more hits (34) than the Aggies in their season-opening series against the Cougars.

Jalen Smith enjoyed an outstanding series from start to finish against Washington State, and enters this week's action with five NCAA top-15 rankings. Not only is he tied for second among all Division I players with eight runs, the sophomore infielder is also tied for third with three doubles, tied for fourth in hit by pitches (3), tied for sixth in hits (7) and seventh in stolen bases (3).

After splitting last Sunday's doubleheader against Seattle, Portland ended its opening weekend of the season with a 5-3 loss against the Redhawks. The Pilots will now hit the road for its next seven games, starting with this weekend's series at UC Davis.

Against SU, freshman infielder Jake Tsukada led Portland's lineup by hitting .500 for the series (6-for-12) with two RBI. Of the team's 13 runs driven in last weekend, redshirt freshman outfielder Jake Holcroft led the team with five. Following a narrow 5-4 loss in their season opener, sophomore right-hander Brett Gillis helped the Pilots split the day's action by throwing five innings of shutout baseball in a game his team won by a 7-0 result.

Portland will head to Davis with a 14-9 all-time series lead and face the Aggies for the first time since the 2016. By winning the last of a four-game home series that year, UC Davis earned a victory in five of the last nine games against the Pilots.
