Lemak picks up CoSIDA Academic All-District

DAVIS, Calif. — For the first time since 2010, an Aggie runner from the women's cross country/track & field team has landed a spot on a Google Cloud Academic All-District team, selected by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). Junior Julia Lemak becomes the latest Aggie to earn All-District honors, notching second team recognition for the first such award of her career, announced on Tuesday.

To be voted onto one of the 2018-19 Academic All-District teams, student-athletes must meet an extensive list of criteria. Nominees must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average, have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's competitions, have completed one full calendar year at the institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility.

Lemak, a neurobiology, physiology & behavior major, carries an impressive 3.98 GPA while competing in cross country in the fall and track in the spring. The Sunnyvale, Calif. native was a consistent performer on the cross country course, finishing in the scoring five in all but one meet in the 2018 season, recording an individual win at the Doc Adams invitational, and placing 80th at the NCAA West Regional.

In track, Lemak earned her first career appearance in an indoor season, racing to a lifetime best of 9:52.62 in the women's 3000m at the 2019 MPSF Championships, and picking up an MPSF All-Academic nod in the process. Lemak was also part of the No. 2 distance medley relay team in Aggie record books. Continuing onto the outdoor portion of the season, the three-time Big West All-Academic selection continued her 5000m prowess, alternating with the 1500m, and doubling the events at the 2019 Big West Championships earlier this month.
