TEMPE, Ariz. — On day two of the 40th Annual Sun Angel Classic hosted by Arizona State, UC Davis track & field finished with over a dozen personal best times, and several Aggies improved or made the top-ten all-time list.
As perhaps one of UC Davis' most consistent performers so far this season, senior decathlete Drake Foote recorded a personal best yet again in the men's high jump, clearing 2.10m (6-10.75) for second overall. Foote's most recent PR in that event occurred last weekend at the UCLA Jim Legends Invite, when he cleared 2.07m (6-09.50)
In the women's pole vault, Stasia Kubicki hit a season-best, finishing fourth overall in the Premiere flight at 3.86 (12-08.99), while Michael Pertusati heaved 16.35m (53-07.75) in the men's shot put for a new PR.
Moving into the track portion of Saturday, Erinn Beattie made her outdoor debut, recording a half-second PR in the women's 100m hurdles, finishing in 14.11, which would be good for third all-time. In the men's 110m hurdles, Anthony Easter improved upon his seventh-place all-time mark, crossing in 14.35 for a new PR, just five hundredths of a second shy of Kyle Clancy's 14.30.
Leading the women's sprint squad, Natsumi McGee ran an 11.88 100m dash for third place overall, closely followed by Kierra Davis (11.90) and Jazmen Bunch (12.10). Kieana Butler competed in the Premiere heat, finishing 13th at 11.98. On the men's side, Brandon Jetter matched his PR of 10.68 in the 100m, finishing sixth, while Dante Berggren shaved off nearly a second from his 400m PR to cross in 48.29, and Max Glasser improved at yet another meet, finishing a hundredth of a second behind Berggren at 48.30.
Freshman hurdler Sadye Peschke had an outstanding day, recording all-time top-ten time in the women's 400m hurdles, and matching her collegiate best of 14.99 in the 100m hurdles. Peschke crossed two seconds faster in the 400H, bumping teammate Beattie out of the all-time top-ten list, filling in the No. 8 position at 1:01.43. Beattie also finished the event with a PR at 1:01.75, and just missed the new all-time threshold by two hundredths of a second.
Highlighting the relays, the men fielded both a 4x100m and a 4x400m team. In the 4x100m rely, the men raced to a sixth-place finish in 40.80, for the fastest time this season, and fifth all-time.
The Aggies will host the Woody Wilson meet next weekend, April 12-13, as the second of three home meets this season.
