ALBUQUERQUE, NM — The Aggies closed their last indoor meet before the MPSF Championships with personal-best marks in the 800m and the shot put on Saturday.
To start off day two of the Don Kirby Invitational, Erinn Beattie (10.83/35-06.75) and Sydney Holmes (10.24/33-07.25) saw improvement from last week's performances in the shot put, adding more than a meter to their distances for personal records in the event. Marlene Gutierrez (11.30/37-01.00) also competed in shot, and the trio finished one after another for 38th-40th place.
Also highlighting Saturday was Anaya Ward in the 800m, recording a personal best time of 2:14.89 for fourth place overall. This is the fastest indoor 200m since Rianna Goins ran 2:11.62 in 2017.
Continuing the day, Beattie matched her 60m Hurdle PR of 8.73 from last weekend at the New Mexico Classic, and was the only Aggie to advance to the preliminary rounds. Sadye Peschke and Holmes both dropped a tenth of a second from last week's time to mark their fastest indoor performances as Aggies in the 60m Hurdles.
Making her first indoor appearance this season, Kierra Davis was the top UC Davis finisher in the 60m Dash, crossing in tenth place in the qualifying round, just missing the top-eight cut-off for the prelim heat.
The Aggies will have a weekend off before traveling to Seattle, Wash. for the MPSF Indoor Championships, held Feb. 22-23 at the University of Washington.
