CHANDLER, Ariz. - Junior Ryan Han fired two under-par rounds to lead UC Davis on the first day of action at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic men's collegiate golf tournament, held on the Whirlwind Golf Club Cattail Course Monday. The junior aerospace engineering major shot a 2-under 70 in the first round followed by a 1-under 71 in the second, putting him into a tie for 12th place heading into the final round.
UC Davis shares seventh place with Utah Valley among the tourney's 15-team field. Han birdied three straight holes to close out the front nine in his first round, then registered a 3-under 33 on that part of the course for the second round. His 141-stroke total sits 3-under-par and just four strokes behind the leading group. Senior
Brandon Baumgarten posted rounds of 75 and 70 in his Monday rounds for a 1-over 145 total, tying him for 34th place with junior teammate

Matt Robinson, who will enter Tuesday's final round in a tie for 42nd. Hutchison shot 1-over 73 during each set of 18 holes for the day. Robinson matched Han for the team's low first round of 70 before turning in a 76 in the second round. Meanwhile, junior
Jesse Bratz closed out Monday's action in a tie for 28th place as an individual entrant. He began with a 1-under 71, then followed up with a 1-over 73 for 144 total strokes. Blake Elliott of McNeese State, Sean Meehan of UTSA and Nick Cantlay of Long Beach State have a three-way split atop the individual leaderboard at 7-under-par 137. Sam Houston State leads the team race at 19-under 557, with UTSA not far behind at 16-under 560. UC Davis heads into Tuesday's final 18 with a 572-stroke total. The Cattail Course covers 7,334 yards. The Wyoming Classic wraps up on Tuesday, then UC Davis quickly turns around to host the El Macero Classic starting on Friday.
