KAPALUA, Hawai'i - Competing as an individual, freshman communication major Madison Wood shot a 2-over 74, the lowest round of her spring season at the Anuenue Spring Break Classic, taking place on the Kapalua Bay Course in Kapalua, Hawai'i. Wood finished tied for 10th with a 2-over 74, the lowest score posted by an Aggie on Monday - first of three 18-hole days taking place in Maui this week.

Junior sociology major Samantha Hutchison and freshman psychology major Hannah Sun are tied for 21st after posting a 76, a score that is one shot lower than their teammates Christine Danielsson, Rei Nakatani and Yoonhee Kim who all finished tied for 28th with respective 77s.

In a tournament featuring all but one of the Big West Conference's eight teams, UC Davis is tied for seventh alongside Cal Poly with matching team scores of 306. With only five shots separating six teams - Oregon State sits in third place with its 301 - expect a lot of movement on the leaderboard throughout Tuesday's second round, which will commence at 8 a.m. HT.

Danielsson, a sophomore majoring in managerial economics, and Kim, a sophomore who has not declared a major, recorded birdies on a team-high three holes, and started the day on a positive note by recording a four on the par-5 10th hole - the inaugural one of the event for both Aggies. As the round progressed, the former recorded birdies on the 2nd and 15th holes; the latter birdied holes three and 14.

Also opening the day with a strong start were Hutchison and sophomore psychology major Nakatani, who each shot par on eight of their first nine holes.

After starting her morning at 2-over through four, Sun ended her day by shooting par on 12 of the following 13 holes

Hawai'i, the tournament's host, posted a 2-over 290, the lowest team score of the 13-team field, and the Rainbow Wahine's Kaci Masuda leads a group of four golfers who finished with an under-par individual score.
