Ido Goldschmidt scored three goals while
Jack Stafford,
George Kuesis,
Max Somple and
Michael Plastino each added two, leading No. 8 UC Davis to a 17-8 win over No. 13 Loyola Marymount in the semifinal round of the Western Water Polo Association men's championship tournament at Clovis West Olympic Swim Complex Saturday.
The second-seeded Aggies improve to 18-7 overall, and advance to the WWPA title game for the fourth straight year. The third-seeded Lions end their season at 13-14.
UC Davis led from start to finish, jumping out to a 6-1 lead through the first quarter, extending its edge to 10-3 by halftime, then holding a 17-7 advantage entering the fourth. Goldschmidt added two assists for five total points, matching Stafford, who supplemented his scoring output with a game-high three assists. Eleven total Aggies scored at least once, with

Senior goalkeeper
R.J. Quigley recorded four saves in his three quarters in net, then sophomore
Jonah Addington relieved him for two more stops in the fourth.
For LMU, the trio of Blazo Mitrovic, Matt Braun and Alexandros Athymaritis each netted two goals.
Overall, UC Davis shot .548 (17-for-31), almost twice that of LMU's .276 (8-for-29). The Aggies also converted 4-for-8 on their power plays, while the Lions managed 6-for-16 on exclusions.
The Aggies will face top-seeded and 10th-ranked UC San Diego in Sunday's WWPA title game. First sprint is 1 p.m. The conference champion will receive the automatic qualifier for the NCAA Championship, hosted by Stanford in December.
