DAVIS, Calif. — Thomas Kiesling secured a hat trick for the third straight contest and the fourth time this season for UC Davis men's water polo in a home game against No. 2 Stanford on Sunday, Sept. 27. The Aggies finish their non-conference schedule in an 8-15 loss to the Cardinal.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED 

• Two minutes into the contest, Oriol Viñas responded to a Stanford goal to tie things at one apiece.
• Following two more Cardinal goals, Oleg Shatskikh went to the back of the net with 19 seconds left in period one. A last second shot from Stanford went past the goalkeeper to give them a 4-2 lead.
• Kiesling got his first of the day to break up a 4-0 scoring run in the second quarter, with Davis holding a 3-8 deficit heading into the half.
• Shatskikh and Austin Quick opened the third quarter with a pair of goals for the Aggies.
• Kiesling took home his second with less than a minute left, but six Stanford goals kept them in the lead heading into the final period of play.
• Two minutes into the fourth, Kiesling shot the ball past his defender for a hat trick.
• Timothy Kerr took home his first of the afternoon with 22 seconds remaining in regulation, but the Cardinal tacked on one more, securing a 15-8 victory.

UP NEXT: The Aggies will have a week off from competition before beginning their first WCC campaign on the road on Friday, Oct. 9 in Santa Clara. The game against the Broncos will begin at 2:30 pm PT and will be streamed on ESPN+.
