May 9, 2017 ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - UC Davis senior Paige Lee birded the par-4 fourth hole to highlight the final stretch of her second round of action at the NCAA Albuquerque Region women's golf championship at UNM's South Championship Course Tuesday. With a 3-over-par 75 on Tuesday and a 152 total overall, she enters the final round in a tie for 51st overall and tied for fifth among the tournament's individual competitors.
No. 1 Stanford took over the team lead after a 5-under 283 in the second round. The Cardinal has a 36-hole total of 573 strokes, four ahead of second-place Pepperdine and seven in front of No. 6 USC. Stanford's Albane Valenzuela leads the race for individual medalist at 4-under 140 overall. Washington's Julianne Alvarez is a stroke back at 141, tying her for second with Big West Conference Player of the Year Martina Edberg of Cal State Fullerton. Lee opened her Tuesday round on the 10th hole, shooting 3-over 39 for the back nine, then settling down to an even-par 36 on the front. She is one of six individual competitors in the field, and the only one from UC Davis. Six teams and three individuals will advance to the NCAA Finals, hosted by Northern Illinois. The Albuquerque Regional concludes with 18 holes on Wednesday.
