STANFORD, Calif. - Junior Evan Knight shot a 1-under-par 69 while junior Ryan Han added an even-par 70 to help UC Davis compile a team round of 2-over 282 on the final day of The Goodwin collegiate men's golf tournament at Stanford Golf Course. The Aggies climbed four spots up the team standing to 19th thanks to its Saturday round, which was the fifth-best of the day.
The host Cardinal won their own tournament at 3-under-par 837, nine strokes ahead of top-ranked USC. Overall, the 24-team field featured eight teams ranked in Golfstat's top 50, with four in top 15 taking the top team standings: Stanford, USC, No. 15 UNLV and No. 5 Oregon. BYU freshman Rhett Rasmussen was the individual medalist with his 4-under 206, a stroke in front of Stanford's Franklin Huang and UNLV's Harry Hall. All five Aggie players posted their best round of the tournament during Saturday's action. Knight finished the day with three consecutive birdies on the seventh through eighth for his 69, putting him in 36th overall place. He finished the tourney with a 54-hole total of 218. Brandon Baumgarten scored a 1-over 71 to finish in a tie for 54th for the tourney with his 221-stroke total. Senior
Ben Corfee opened his day with nine straight pars on the back nine, then opened the front with a birdie-4 on the 521-yard first. He finished with a 2-over 72 on Saturday and a t80th-place 226 total. Fellow senior
Nicolas Noya carded a 3-over 73 in his final round of the tourney, giving him a 54-hole total of 228 for t93th. The team's 282 is the fifth-best round to par for the 2016-17 season, while Knight's 69 marks the fifth time he has shot under par for a round this season. A total of 24 teams and a field of 126 players competed in The Goodwin, held on Stanford's 6,727-yard, par-70 campus course. UC Davis returns to action at Wyoming's Cowboy Classic, held in Chandler, Arizona, on April 10-11.
