March 31, 2017 STANFORD, Calif. - Junior Evan Knight shot a 4-over-par 74 to lead UC Davis on the second day of The Goodwin collegiate men's golf tournament at Stanford Golf Course Friday. The Aggies finished with a team total of 302 for the day, holding 23rd place overall.
Knight, who birdied the first and third holes after a tough back nine, moved up eight places on the individual leaderboard into a tie for 55th place. He holds a 36-hole total of 149 strokes, one ahead of junior teammate
Brandon Baumgarten in t62nd place. Senior
Ben Corfee carded a 5-over 75 in Friday's round, bringing his total to 154 overall and giving him an eight-place jump to t97th. Senior
Nicolas Noya shot a 76 to finish the day in a tie for 103rd while junior
Ryan Han rounds out the Aggies in 125th place. Host Stanford leads the team race with a 4-over-par 564, just one stroke in front of No. 1-ranked USC, which compiled the day's low team round of 280. Meanwhile, BYU's Rhett Rasmussen fired a 6-under-par 64 to vault himself 26 spot into the top of the individual medalist standings. He holds a 36-hole total of 136, two strokes ahead of a four-person tie of Washington's Corey Pereira, Stanford's Maverick McNealy, UNLV's Harry Hall and Oregon's Ryan Gronlund. A total of 24 teams and a field of 126 players compete in The Goodwin, which takes place on Stanford's 6,727-yard, par-70 campus course. UC Davis won this very tournament in 2016. The third and final round takes place on Saturday.
