March 30, 2017 STANFORD, Calif. - Junior Brandon Baumgarten eagled the 539-yard, par-5 seventh hole en route to his team's low round of 3-over-par 73, highlighting UC Davis action at The Goodwin men's collegiate golf tournament, hosted at Stanford Golf Course. The Aggies are in 23rd place after the first 18 holes, while Baumgarten sits in a tie for 39th in the individual standings.
Host Stanford leads the 24-team field that features nine programs rated among Golfstat's Top 50. The Cardinal finished the day at 4-under-par 276, seven strokes in front of Washington and nine ahead of No. 1-ranked USC. Huskies' senior Corey Pereira leads the individual field at 4-under 66, just a stroke ahead of the Stanford tandem of Maverick McNealy and Franklin Huang. Junior
Evan Knight carded a 5-over 75 as UC Davis' No. 2 finisher on the day, putting him in t63rd place on the individual leaderboard. Seniors

Nicolas Noya each shot 79 for 105th place, while junior
Ryan Han rounded out the Aggie field with an 83 for a share of 122nd. The Goodwin field is so large that the competing teams played in separate morning and afternoon waves. UC Davis, which won the 2016 event in historic fashion, was part of the early-morning group with Cal Poly and Oregon State. The tournament, known as the United States Intercollegiate until 2014, continues through Saturday.
