DURHAM, Calif. - Brandon Baumgarten shot rounds of 1-under 71 in the first round and followed with a 72 in the second on Saturday to move into a tie for 12th after two rounds of the Rod Myers Invitational, hosted by Duke.

The Aggies, who are making their first appearance at the prestigious event, are tied for 11th with East Carolina at 27 over. Play was suspended because of darkness with two players still on the course. Wake Forest, which had one of those players, is currently at 18 under and holds a 12-stroke lead over Liberty.

Aggie senior Ben Corfee had rounds of 73 and 77 and is tied for 42nd at 6 over, the same position as freshman Matt Robinson who opened with a 76 and then shot 74 in his second round. Jeremy Sanchez is 16 over after shooting 81 and 79 while sophomore Ryan Han went 82 and 81 and is in 81st place at 19 over.

Baumgarten opened his first round with a bogey on the par-4 first hole but then was nearly perfect the rest of the way, posting back-to-back birdies on the seventh and eight holes. He made his turn 1 under and was even on the back to shoot 71.

He had two birdies on the front nine of his second round and made his turn 1 under before going 1 over on the back.

Corfee posted a steady first round, highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 ninth hole and 15 pars. He had four birdies in the afternoon. Robinson was also 6 over following his 4-over round with a 2-over showing in the second that featured five birdies.

Sanchez had three birdies on Saturday while Han had three in his opening round.

UC Davis will complete play at Duke's tournament on Sunday before jumping on an airplane and making their way to the Olympic Invitational in San Francisco which begins on Monday.
