Results: Sun Angel Classic | Chico Twilight Invitational

TEMPE, Ariz. - Freshman Natsumi McGee wrote her name on the Aggies' all-time 100-meter list on Saturday when she posted a top-10 time at the 37th annual Sun Angel Classic, hosted by Arizona State on Saturday.

McGee moved into a tie for eighth with Enjoli Smith after collecting a sixth-place finish in 12.04 seconds in the collegiate/open division at the meet. Smith ran her time in 1999.

McGee's performance provided one of the highlights for the Aggies who also saw Erika Barr cross the finish line of the invitational heat of the 1,500 in 4:25.48. The mark was just off her PR of 4:24.82 which she ran at last year's ASU meet and which ranks her ninth all-time at UC Davis.

On the men's side, a week after going 14.62 seconds in the 110 high hurdles at the Mondo Team Challenge at Sacramento State, freshman Kyle Clancy bettered that by placing sixth at ASU in 14.49 seconds. However, the mark was wind-aided, keeping him from moving up the all-time list from his current No. 8 position.

Cody Nguyen, who has a personal-best of 1:50.36 in the 800, made a run at that mark on Saturday, placing sixth in 1:51.52 in the collegiate/open race.

UC Davis competed more extensively at the Mesa Classic on Friday and had limited entries at Arizona State, one of the largest meets in the country featuring some of the top open and collegiate competitors.

The Aggies also sent a small crew to Chico State for the Chico Twilight Invitational. Jordon Rushing highlighted action there by finishing second in the 1,500 invitational in 3:52.35 while teammate Austin Goins was a close third in 3:52.75.

The Aggies will return to action next weekend when they travel to Southern California for the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays as well as the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific and the Beach Invitational at Long Beach State.

UC Davis will also field athletes for the Woody Wilson Classic which takes place on Picnic Day on campus.
