PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. - Patrick Soli shot a 1-under 70 on famed Poppy Hills Golf Course on Sunday, finishing second at the NGCA Amateur Stroke Play Championship and pacing four UC Davis men's golfers in the top 20 at the high-caliber tournament.

Incoming freshman Ryan Knop, who signed a national letter of intent with the Aggies last fall, tied for sixth, senior Ben Corfee tied for 15th and sophomore Evan Knight tied for 20th.

Soli, who will be entering his senior season with UC Davis this fall, finished 1 over after shooting 69 in the first round and 75 in the second. He rallied strong in his final round, putting together four birdies over five holes on his back nine to shave four strokes off his 5-over score. Soli had six birdies on the day and 10 for the tournament.

Knop will join the Aggies after a standout career at Foothill High School in Pleasanton. He gave a preview his future with his outstanding play at Poppy Hills. He was 2 under through 36 holes after a pair of 71s before shooting 77 in the last round. Knop had five birdies in each of his first two rounds and was 6 over for the tournament.

Corfee redshirted last season but returns to the lineup this year after finishing his junior campaign in 20143-14 as the Aggies' No. 2 golfer. He finished 12 over at the NGCA tournament this past weekend, highlighting his play with a 71 in the opening round. Corfee birdied three of the course's four par-5 holes.

Knight will be entering his sophomore season in September. He enjoyed his best round on the opening day, shooting 73 after closing with an eagle on the par-5, 515-yard 18th hole. He posted six birdies during the weekend and was 13 over overall.

Former Aggie Jonny Baxter gave the program another strong finisher with his sixth-place tie. Robby Salomon, who competed at Cal State Monterey Bay, was 4 under and won medalist honors by five shots over Soli.

The UC Davis men's golf team is coming off a second-place finish at the Big West Championships this past spring before earning its second consecutive at-large berth to the NCAA Regionals.
