June 1, 2015 Official WGCA release DAVIS, Calif. - Paige Lee, who helped lead UC Davis to its best-ever finish while being named the Big West Women's Golfer of the Year, has been named 2014-15 All-America honorable mention by the Women's Golf Coaches Association, it was announced by the organization.
Lee, a sophomore from nearby Folsom, California, is the program's third all-time All-American. She joins Demi Runas who was a second-team selection for the 2012-13 season, and Alice Kim who was named honorable mention for 2008-09.
Lee earned the honor after a tremendous season in which she posted five top-six finishes, including a win at the prestigious Peg Barnard Invitational at Stanford in February. She led the team in scoring average (73.2) and posted the team's single-best round when she carded a 66 while winning at Stanford.
"It is very exciting for Paige to have achieved this accomplishment," said head coach Anna Temple. "I know she will be hungry to make the first or second team next year, but this is a nice recognition of her play this season. She has been consistent throughout the year and really made some good improvements. To be named with the other student-athletes is a great honor and I know Paige is extremely proud of this. She is our third Aggie to be named to an All-America team and she is continuing the great tradition here of player development."
Besides winning at Stanford, Lee tied for fourth at Washington's Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational during the fall before stringing together consecutive top-10 finishes at the Anuenue Spring Break Classic (2nd), SMU/DAC Invitational (6th) and Big West Championship (3rd) during the spring.
Lee was part of an Aggie team that once again dominated the conference by winning its sixth straight Big West Championship on its way to its sixth straight NCAA appearance. UC Davis finished third at the NCAA South Bend Regional and then challenged for a spot in match play at the national finish before finishing 11th for its best showing at the event.
The Aggies won two tournaments and placed in the top three nine times.
