BERKELEY, Calif. - Lauren Wallace won the 800-meter run, Lauren Radke captured her section of the pole vault, and Kaitlin Gregg moved to No. 2 all-time at UC Davis in the 3,000, helping highlight UC Davis' first day at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational at Cal on Friday.

Jonathan Sees improved his No. 8 position on the Aggies' 800 ledger to help spark the UC Davis men.

Wallace cut more than two seconds of her previous personal-best of 2 minutes, 11.00 seconds by crossing on Friday in 2:08.73 to finish first in the university/open division of the middle distance race. She won by more than a second over Julie Stupp of Arizona (2:09.85), moving from No. 8 all-time at UC Davis to No. 2. Wallace only trails Rose Criss who went 2:07.91 in 2001.

Radke captured first place by nearly six inches in the B section of the pole vault, going a career-best 12-feet, 6.25 inches to surpass her previous-best of 12-3.5 and jump from a tie for fourth to third all-time at UC Davis.

Gregg capped UC Davis' good opening day with her career performance in the 3,000, which was run as part of the premier New York Road Runners Distance Carnival. She finished 12th overall in the elite field in 9:30.94 but debuts on the Aggies' chart at No. 2, just over four seconds off the school record of 9:28.24 set by Patti Gray in 1985.

Sees entered the meet with a personal-best 800 time of 1:51.82, placing him No. 8 all-time, and improved his standing with his second-place time of 1:51.44. Another strong mark on the track came from Samantha Kearney in the steeplechase, who was 11th in the field in 11:08.23, a PR by more than two seconds and strengthening her No. 5 spot all-time at UC Davis.

Daniel Turvey went 16-1.25 to place second in the B section of the men's pole vault, tying Mike Peterson's team-best mark this season. Peterson, who first achieved the mark at Arizona State two weeks ago, did it again on Friday but tied for fourth in the field due to misses.

Both the Aggie men and women each had five top-five placings in the first day of the Brutus Hamilton Invitational which continues on Saturday with more university/open and invitational competition.
