Complete Meet Results

STANFORD, Calif. - Ashley Hearn captured both the shot put and discus at the Stanford Opener on Saturday afternoon while Igor Seriba was a double-winner for the men in the long jump and triple jump as the UC Davis men's and women's track and field teams combined for 10 wins at the season-opening meet.

The meet, an annual traditional opener between UC Davis, Stanford, Cal and Fresno State, also featured Cal Poly and the University of San Francisco along with unattached and club team competitors.

"We had an outstanding meet, we had some very good things happen," said Aggie men's coach Jon Vochatzer.

Hearn won the shot put with an effort of 44 feet, 4 inches while also taking top honors in the discus at 135-8. Seriba went 21-4.5 to finish first in the long jump while leading a 1-2 Aggie finish in the triple jump with an efort of 47-2.5. Ray Green was second.

Other event winners for the women including Sirena Williams in the 100 hurdles (13.90), Stephanie Eckels in the triple jump (39-2.25) and Anikia Jackson in the javelin (135-8). Polly Gnepa was a winner for the UC Davis men in the 110 high hurdles (14.31) while Thomas Phillips won (47.77) edged teammate Alex Wilright (48.28) in the 400.

The Aggie men also won the meet-ending 4x400 in 3:15.80.

Sarah Sumpter finished second in the 3,000 in 9:49.10, a mark that gave her the No. 10 spot on the Aggies' all-time leaders list. Jonathan Peterson, Jonathan Sees and Kyle Suarez had similar affects on the men's 3,000 ledger. Peterson, already No. 2, improved his standing on that list with a career-best time of 8:16.50, more than four seconds faster than his previous best from 2008.

Sees moved jumped to No. 6 with his sixth-place time of 8:24.71 while Suarez is No. 9 after crossing in 8:25.63.

UC Davis will return home to host the first of two consecutive meets beginning with the Aggie Open next Saturday. It'll host the UC Davis Classic on Mar. 20.
