DAVIS, Calif. - Sophomore Goran Tomasevic and junior Tom Koning each netted two goals to help seventh-ranked Pacific escape an early 2-0 deficit en route to an 8-3 victory over No. 11 UC Davis in non-conference men's water polo action at Schaal Aquatics Center Friday evening in front of a near-capacity crowd.

The Aggies fall to 11-5 for the season, having only lost to teams ranked in the national top 10. The Tigers improve to 9-4 overall.

Senior Carlos Martinez, junior Walter Eggert and sophomore Colin Hicks each tallied goals for UC Davis. Junior Kevin Peat picked up nine saves in front of the Aggie cage, including a block of Balazs Erdeyli's five-meter penalty shot with 5:30 in the first period.

Erdeyli, Joey Gullikson, Lance Morrison and Tyler Reardon added one goal each for Pacific, while freshman goalie Alex Malkis recorded 10 saves, including five in the fourth quarter. The Tigers had outshot their host by a 21-for-9 margin through three periods, finishing with a 24-16 edge in the contest.

UC Davis crafted a 2-0 lead in the first period, with both Martinez and Eggert converting 6-on-5 opportunities. Peat's save against Erdeyli's penalty shot also held Pacific scoreless in 10 attempts during the opening period. However, Pacific ignited a run of four unanswered on the opening possession of the second period. Tomasevic took a long outlet pass from Malkis then drew a five-meter foul on the counterattack. He hit his own penalty shot to trim the UC Davis lead to 2-1. Tomasevic later scored on an outside shot with one tick remaining on the halftime clock, sending Pacific to the break with a 3-2 edge.

The Aggies broke their long scoreless drought when senior Cory Lyle drew a five-meter foul in the third period. Hicks stuck the penalty shot to bring the score to 4-3. However, UC Davis never found the back of the net for the remainder of the game, having five of seven fourth-quarter shots stopped by the Tigers' Malkis.

UC Davis hosts an alumni game as part of Saturday's Homecoming festivities, then returns to official action on Friday with a home conference tilt against UC San Diego.
