DAVIS, Calif. — Despite a four-goal run in the fourth, UC Davis men's water polo's season came to an end on Friday, Dec. 5, with an NCAA First Round loss to Stanford.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After seeing the Cardinal take the first three goals of the night, the Aggies opened up scoring with a strike from Max Prokhin.
- Thomas Kiesling added onto the tally to cut the deficit to one, but Stanford would get one back to finish the first up 4-2.
- The Cardinal rally continued with four straight to open the second before Oriol Viña broke things up with a shot that deflected in the net for a goal.
- In the waning seconds of the half, Adam Ting got on the board with a score, putting the score at 8-4 in favor of Stanford at halftime.
- After seeing the Cardinal tack on four more to begin period number three, Mateo Ruano finished the period with a quick strike to put the score at 5-12 going into the final quarter.
- With Stanford adding on two more to begin the fourth, Andrew Hitchcock cashed in a response for his first of the day before the second of the night from both Kiesling and Prokhin.
- Ruano would score another in the final seconds, but the comeback would fall short as the Aggies season would come to an end with a 9-15 loss to Stanford.
