DAVIS, Calif. - The UC Davis swimming and diving teams split against Denver Friday afternoon at Schaal Aquatics Center in Davis, Calif. The men's team defeated the Pioneers by a score of 160-135 while the women fell 191-109.

The men now hold a 3-0 overall dual meet record while the Aggie women now stand at 2-2 overall.

The UC Davis men started out with a win in the 200 medley relay with Jimmy Fong, Scott Weltz, Daniel Donnelly and Russ Underwood combining for a time of 1:33.40.

Adam Borchard, Alex Daneke, Fong and Weltz each had two individual wins on the day.

Borchard took first in the 1000- and 500- freestyle events. He clocked in with a season-best time of 9:29.79 in the 1000 free and finished with a time of 4:37.32 in the 500 free.

Daneke placed first in the 100- and 200-freestyle events. In the 200 free, Daneke recorded a time of 1:41.60 in the 200 free and turned in a season-best time of 46.81 in the 100 free.

In the backstroke events, Jimmy Fong finished with a season-best 52.30 in the 100 back for a first-place finish and had a second season-best time in the 200 back when he clocked in at 1:52.94.

Weltz's time of 57.53 in the 100 breast was a season-best for the senior. He recorded a time of 2:06.20 in the 200 breast to win that event.

The Aggie men finished 1-2 in five events.

The men's 400 free relay "A" team of Underwood, Daneke, Borchard and B.J. Scoggan were narrowly edged out by Denver. After a 46.88 split time by Borchard, Scoggan was barely outtouched at the wall as the Pioneers clocked in at 3:07.11 to the Aggies' 3:07.33.

For the women, Ashley Chandler led UC Davis with two individual wins while Bridget Bugbee was victorious in the 500 freestyle. Chandler's first victory came in the 50 free where she clocked in at a season-best time of 23.97. She then went on to win the 100 free in a time of 52.10, another season best.

Bugbee's time of 5:05.38 in the 500 free was also a season-best.

Linda Hermann placed second in the 200 free with a time of 1:54.03 while Lisa Bender also was second in the 100 breast. Her time of 1:08.21 was a season best. Morgan Lee's season-best time of 2:28.38 in the 200 breast was also good enough for second place.

The 400 free relay "A" squad picked up a win as Bugbee, Hermann, Chandler and Kayleigh Foley narrowly edged Denver by a time of 3:30.11 while the Pioneers finished second in the event with a time of 3:30.15.

Denver swept the diving events with Elizabeth Yovich placing first on both boards for the women and Cody Stambaugh doing the same for the men.

UC Davis' Paul Navo was second on the 1-meter board with a score of 252.75 and finished third on the 3-meter board with a score of 256.10. Jennifer Meyer was the Aggie women's top scorer on the low board (206.03) while Hilary Brunner finished second in the 3-meter event with a score of 202.58.

The UC Davis men will host Fresno Pacific Friday, Nov. 13 at 2:00 p.m. at Schaal Aquatics Center. The Aggie women will next compete at the Toshiba Classic Nov. 19-21 in Long Beach, Calif.
