DAVIS, Calif. - Freshman distance freestyler Bridget Bugbee captured event wins in the 200-, 500- and 1,000-yard freestyle races to lead the UC Davis women to a 144-88 victory over Seattle University, while juniors Matt Herman and Paul Navo each won two events to pace the Aggie men to a 132-102 win in collegiate swimming dual action at Schaal Aquatics Center Saturday.

The UC Davis men remain unbeaten in dual meets at 2-0. The Aggie women improve to 2-4 for the season.

Bugbee posted a 10:40.73 in the 1,000 free, delivered a season-best 1:55.51 in the 200 free in the next event, then went 5:08.89 in the 500 free to complete her triple. Senior Linda Hermann also won multiple events, scoring the maximum nine points in the 200 individual medley (2:09.20) and 200 backstroke (2:08.74). She also anchored the Aggies' first-place 400 medley relay, which touched in 4:00.25.

Herman picked up his wins in the two distance freestyle events. He went 9:39.30 in the 1,000 free to take down that race by a 24-second margin, then hit 4:42.43 in the 500 free to edge teammate Adam Borchard's 4:43.54. Navo prevailed in both diving competitions, scoring a 283.75 in the one-meter event, then tallying a 305.63 on the three-meter board. Both UC Davis teams scored the maximum 32 points in the diving events, as Seattle did not enter any divers.

Additionally, Herman's distance victories led 1-2 punches in those events. In the 1,000 free, Reid Hartz placed second (10:03.86) and Jeremy Smith was third (10:04.29) to give the Aggies a 16-point push in the meet's second event. In the 500 free, the Herman-Borchard finish provided another 13 points on the scoreboard.

Similarly, all three of Bugbee's victories led 1-2 finishes for the UC Davis women. The Aggies also took the top two places in the 50 free, as Ashley Chandler (24.40) and Jennifer Cadmus (24.91) led the field; and in the 200 IM, where Hermann and Katelyn Griffin (2:13.31) scored their top finishes.

The Aggie women also finished the meet in exciting fashion, as their 400-yard relay edged the Seattle `A' squad by four-tenths of a second. Junior Lisa Bender, still hampered by a bum ankle, overtook Redhawk sophomore Hanna Basler on the final turn of the anchor leg to claim the win for UC Davis. The Aggies touched the pad in 3:37.49 to Seattle's 3:37.89.

Both the UC Davis men and women continue their dual-heavy fall schedules in a head-to-head meet against Denver on Novmeber 6.
