USF battled back from a 9-4 deficit in a Game 1 defensive battle. Don middle blockers Babin and Linzy Kearney combined for eight kills on 15 swings offensively while assisting on four blocks. For UC Davis, Singh had eight of her team's 23 digs in the opener. Setter Carson Lowden and middle Tori Hooper also came up with some key digs, but tough USF serving held the Aggies in check. The Dons dominated UC Davis in the second game, attacking at .364 to their host's .023 hitting rate. Hasselberg posted three kills and a pair of blocks during an 8-0 run that helped USF pull from a 6-4 start to a 14-4 edge. The Dons led UC Davis by at least a 12-point margin for the remainder of Game 2, taking a 2-0 match lead at the break.
Hasselberg continued her offensive prowess through the third game, totalling 10 kills in the finale. However, UC Davis enjoyed a final flourish, escaping from a 27-19 deficit to a 30-29 lead. Freshman reserve middle Julie King stuffed a pair of USF shots as the two teams traded points to a 33-33 tie. Maurer finally ended the see-saw battle with a game-winning kill across the middle of the court.
