SEATTLE, Wash. - Jade Myles personal-best mark of 11.67 meters in the triple jump and Ben Johnson's collegiate debut of 1:55.32 in the 800 meters highlighted UC Davis action at the Husky Classic indoor track & field meet at Dempsey Indoor Saturday.

This is the second of three meets on the Aggies' indoor slate, and the lone meet held on the Mondo surface of Dempsey Indoor.

Myles' triple jump, good for ninth place in the meet and the Imperial equivalent of 38 feet, 3.5 inches, surpassed her previous indoor best by more than five inches. It is the farthest jump since Angela Orlando cleared more than 40 feet at the NCAA Championships in 1998.

Sophomore Kim Conley posted a time of 5:07.10 in the mile run, the fastest time by an Aggie woman since Sopagna Eap in 2003. Only Eap and Suzy Jones' record-setting 4:38.06 at the 1996 NCAA indoor championships rank higher in school annals. Senior Kim Gleeson had the highest individual finish from either UC Davis team, placing 11th with a throw of 13.10 meters (42 feet, 11.75 inches) in the shot put. Jade Myles improved on her season mark in the long jump, finishing with a leap of 5.43 meters or 17-9.75.

Senior Sara Clinkenbeard's quest for an entry in the USATF indoor national meet was temporarily spoiled. After a school-record 46-9 in Reno two weeks ago, she fouled all three attempts in Saturday's shot put. Clinkenbeard is in striking range of the national qualifying standards for both the shot and the 20-pound weight throw.

On the men's side, Johnson's time moves him into a tie for second in the UC Davis record book, matching last year's season best by teammate Chris Fuller. Sprinters Roland Chu and Scott Lee also improved on lifetime indoor bests. They each went 7.20 in the 60-meter dash preliminaries.

In local interest, Woodland native Jill Camarena won the shot put with a stadium-record 17.83 meters, or 58-6 in English units, in her third throw.

The Aggies return to action on February 18 at the Bill Cosby Invitational in Reno, Nevada. Their outdoor season kicks off with their annual Blue-Gold Intrasquad meet on February 25.
