ST. PAUL HS ’20: Played shortstop and received All-Del Rey League First Team, All-Area First Team and MVP awards… Batted .432, recorded 38 hits, 22 runs and stole 19 bases that season… Named Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore… In 2018, he hit .306 and earned all-league accolades… Pitched and played shortstop throughout his junior year; that season’s honor roll included all-conference first team, All-Area Second Team, All-Southern Section Division III Second Team and MVP honors… Posted the following stats that year: .414 avg., 36 hits, 32 runs, 15 stolen bases, 1.44 ERA in 24.1 IP, 25 K, 6 BB and 3 Sv… Also held the highest GPA on the team… His baseball team won the first of back-to-back league titles during his junior season… SPHS also won a Southern Section championship his senior season, once that saw him pitch and play shortstop… Named to the CBCA All-Southern Section Division III Team and received the Don Ward Memorial Award and Outstanding Athlete of the Year… In his final season at SPHS, he batted .269, finished with 10 runs, one home run, two stolen bases, a 3.21 ERA and only allowed two earned runs.
PERSONAL: Younger of Sandra and William’s two children… Jaymez is his older brother… Most people do not know that he suffered a traumatic head injury while playing a summer baseball game, entering his senior year, which forced him to miss five months and develop epilepsy… Defying the odds of not being able to play baseball and earning a Division I scholarship are one of his two proudest personal accomplishments… Committing to the Air Force Academy on a full ride during his sophomore year was another; he was medically disqualified once he was diagnosed with epilepsy… Angel Stadium is his favorite facility that he competed in… Ken Griffey Jr., Pete Rose and Rafael Furcal are his sports heroes… Chose UC Davis because its athletics programs are highly competitive and its academic programs provide advantages over other universities.
