Played two varsity seasons for the Thunderbirds... Helped his team to a share of the Citrus Belt League title as a junior in 2014 and a pair of CIF berths in each of the last two seasons... Finished with a 1.62 ERA and a pair of saves in just over 17 innings of work as a junior, striking out 19... Was an all-league second team selection as a senior and was named the team's pitcher of the year after finishing with seven saves and a 1.75 ERA in 32 innings, striking out 37... Four-time academic letter winner at Yucaipa HS.

PERSONAL
Parents are Tom and Heather... Has a younger brother, Zach... His father graduated from the University of La Verne and played in the St. Louis Cardinals' organization... His cousin, Jarret Martin, twice drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in 2008 (19th Round) and 2009 (18th Round), spending the last five seasons in the minors... Another cousin, Mike Black, played five seasons for the Detroit Lions... Played travel ball for the OC Giants, helping his team to a Connie Mack 18u Southern California Regional Championshp in 2014... If he could play any other sport at UC Davis, it would be football... Lists Clayton Kershaw as his sports hero... Lists visiting all 30 Major League Baseball stadiums as one of the items on his bucket list.
