FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Curtis Da Silva shot a 1-under-par 139 to lead the UC Davis men's golf team into a tie for third place Thursday after the opening two rounds of the Ram Masters Invitational at Fort Collins Country Club.

The Aggies posted a 36-hole team total of 572 (287-285), 12 over par, to sit tied with Utah Valley for third in the 16-team field. UC Davis trimmed its team score from 7 over in the opening round to 5 over in the second and enters Friday's final round five strokes back of leader Utah Tech (+7) and two behind San Francisco (+10).

Da Silva stands tied for fourth after pairing an even-par 70 with a second-round 69. The senior eagled the par-5 seventh hole in the opening round, then recorded five birdies in the afternoon. Three consecutive birdies on Nos. 3–5 helped him play the front nine in 4-under 31 during the second round. He enters Friday three strokes behind individual leader Ty Brady of Utah Valley.

Ryan Firpo followed with rounds of 72 and 71 to sit tied for 17th at 3-over 143. Firpo birdied Nos. 4 and 13 in his second round.

Makig his Aggie debut, Cooper Greenwood is tied for 28th at 5-over 145 after rounds of 72 and 73, while Treed Huang posted consecutive 73s to share 36th at 6-over 146.

Shaun Nair improved three strokes in the afternoon, following a 75 with a 72 to move into a tie for 46th at 7-over 147. His day included an eagle on the par-5 15th in the opening round and three birdies in the second.

Competing as an individual, Zhenxian Zhang joined Greenwood in a tie for 28th at 5-over 145. Zhang opened with a 69 that featured six birdies and a 5-under 30 on the front nine before shooting 76 in the second round.

UC Davis continues play tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 11, for the final 18 holes.
