BERKELEY, Calif. — Hat tricks from
Ava Horrocks,
Jane Fox, and
Lauren Picardi gave UC Davis lacrosse a road win over the California Golden Bears on Monday, Feb. 23. Picardi scored the game winner in a game that featured six ties and four lead changes.

OPENING DRAW
- The four goal performance from Horrocks marks a career high for the freshman. It's also the second time she's had a hat trick this season.
- For Fox, it's her third hat trick of the season and second straight. Tonight is also the second consecutive hat trick for Picardi.
- Picardi also added two assists to tie a season-high five points.
- Cami Johnson added onto the tally with a pair of scores.
- Annie Cimperman continued her great play in the circle with eight draw controls.
- Emily Altshuler anchored the defense with five saves and three ground balls.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After seeing the Bears get on the board a minute into the first quarter, Fox passed the ball over the net to Horrocks for her first goal of the night.
- Horrocks got her second five minutes later on a Davis response to another Cal goal, leaving the score tied at two apiece after 15 minutes of action.
- Fox gave her team the lead before Cal tied it back up. From there, the Aggies finished the half on a 4-1 in the last ten minutes.
- Horrocks and Fox each secured hat tricks being the only two Aggies to score in the first half, carrying their team to a 7-4 lead at the half.
- Picardi got on the board less than a minute into the third with a goal to put her team up four.
- After a two goal run from the home team, she got her second point of the night on an assist to Johnson.
- Down three, the Golden Bears began to snatch momentum with four straight goals to retake the lead.
- With 16 seconds left in the third, Rhea Cosand found the back of the net off another assist from Picardi to tie the game at 10 heading into the final period.
- The back-and-forth affair continued with Cal getting the first two goals of the fourth followed by two from Picardi and Johnson.
- With a little over a minute remaining, Picardi brought home the hat trick with the game winning goal.
- Following a draw control from Audrey Carr, the Aggies secured a 13-12 victory.
UP NEXT: The road trip continues for the Aggies as the team heads north to take on Oregon on Saturday, Feb. 28. First draw is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. PT and will be available to watch on Big Ten Plus.
