  • Ximena Cordero Barr (17) and Rachel Dunagan (11) also had double-digit digs for the Aggies.
  • Mia Starr effectively set up her teammates with 36 assists.
  • Ally Chandler led the defense with six total blocks.
  • Haden Bones was efficient on the serve with five service aces; the senior setter is now up to 12 on the season.
WHAT HEAD COACH DAN CONNERS HAD TO SAY

"We got the win, and that was important for us. Green Bay served and blocked well, which gave us some challenges. We responded in the 4th with a strong finish. We have a long week of practice ahead to work on the areas that we got exposed. Took some steps forward this weekend, and we need to continue making progress this week."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Aggies started the match hot, using a kill from Chandler to spark the offense to an 11-4 start to set one.
  • Green Bay would get one back, but the first kill from Demi Cole would continue the Davis run.
  • Down eight, the Phoenix would mount a 7-1 run to get back within two.
  • As both teams exchanged points, Davis would continue to mount their lead with a kill from Starr, giving them a 20-15 lead.
  • But Green Bay would respond again, using a 3-0 scoring run to get back within striking distance.
  • With the score reading 22-20 in favor of the Ags, kills from Cordero Barr and Brooke Hibino, along with a block from Chandler and Hibino, would close the first 25-20 in favor of the blue and gold.
  • Set two started very similarly for UC Davis, building a 9-6 lead to start the frame.
  • After using a 3-0 run to tie the set, Green Bay would get its first lead of the day with another 3-0 scoring run.
  • But the service of Bones came into play for the Aggies, with four service aces from the setter leading the way for six straight points and the lead.
  • After the Phoenix looked for momentum with three straight, Hibino and Light put their team on the doorstep with a 4-0 run, putting the score at 22-16.
  • But Green Bay refused to relent, gaining an edge with a 5-0 run to put them back within one.
  • A kill from Cole put Davis back up two before the opposing team tied it up at 23 with two quick kills.
  • After a dual block from Chandler and Breeze Czapinski put them within one, Chandler closed the set with a kill to give the Aggies a 25-23 win and a 2-0 lead.
  • Set three saw another quick start from Davis, using a kill from Starr to take a 5-2 lead.
  • But the Phoenix would find some momentum, going on an 8-0 scoring run to go up 10-5.
  • Light would get a couple of kills, and Starr and Cole would combine for a block, but Green Bay would avoid the sweep with a 25-11 set win.
  • Each team would go blow-for-blow to start the fourth before a kill from Chandler would spark a 4-0 run capped by a Hibino ace.
  • After Green Bay would get two back, the service of Bones would carry her team once again as they would cap off a 7-0 run and a 17-7 lead.
  • With the Aggies up 22-11, the Phoenix would use one last push with a 3-0 run, but a block from Chandler and Light would wrap up a 25-15 set win and 3-1 match victory.

UP NEXT: The Aggies return to the Golden State when the team heads to Stanford next weekend for a pair of games at The Farm. The action kicks off Saturday, Sept. 13 at 2:00 p.m. PT against Utah State before the weekend finale against host team Stanford on Sunday, Sept. 14 at 3:00 p.m. PT.
