Marcus Wilson to Join Men's Basketball Program

DAVIS, Calif. — The UC Davis men's basketball program has signed 6-foot-3 guard Marcus Wilson, a dynamic transfer from Washington State with prior high school success in Arizona and New Mexico, head coach Jim Les announced Wednesday.

"Marcus is an athletic and explosive guard who can impact the game on both ends of the floor," Les said. "His defensive pressure creates turnovers and disrupts offenses. He has unlimited range on his shot and the ability to attack the basket and finish in a variety of ways. Marcus' work ethic and competitive spirit will be a fan favorite at the UCU."

Wilson, a skilled combo guard, appeared in four games for the Cougars during the 2024-25 season before suffering a season-ending injury. His most efficient outing came against Idaho, where he shot a perfect 2-for-2 from three-point range, finishing with six points and two assists in just 15 minutes of action.

Before Washington State, Wilson showcased his talent at Bella Vista Prep (Ariz.), where he led the team in assists and helped lead the Bears to the Boys Division 3 Arizona State quarterfinals. A three-star prospect according to 247Sports, Wilson was ranked as the No. 37 combo guard in the nation, and a top-275 national prospect. His standout senior year also earned him a McDonald's All-America nomination.

Prior to his time in Arizona, Wilson also starred for the Albuquerque Basketball Club in his home state, notably leading the team to the Grind Session World Championships. He was named New Mexico's No. 1 recruit in the 2024 class by PrepHoops.com. In New Mexico, Wilson also played football at Cibola High School, contributing to the Cougars' first-round victory in the 6A State Championship as a sophomore in 2021.

Wilson will join the Aggies for the 2025-26 season with four years of eligibility remaining.
