SAN DIEGO, Calif. - On Thursday, May 1, the Big West released their Men's Tennis All-Conference Team, with four Aggies, Lucas Bolinger, Ryan Torres, Ivan Savkin, and Kaveh Taheri making the cut.
Bollinger, Torres, and Taheri were named to the First and Second Teams for singles. Savkin and Torres made the first team in doubles, as Bollinger and Taheri made the second team as a pair. Lastly, Kaveh Taheri was named Freshman of the Year for the conference.
Lucas Bollinger - All-Big West First Team, Singles
After landing on the All-Big West Honorable Mention a season ago for doubles, Bollinger has taken a leap, making it onto the First Team for singles in his junior season. In a year full of consistent starts, he led the team in most singles wins throughout the entire year. Bollinger mostly played number two singles but was bumped up twice to number one, winning both matches.
Ryan Torres - All-Big West First Team, Singles
Three years after being named Co-Freshman of the Year, Torres finds himself on the All-Big West First Team for singles for the first time in his career. Playing number one singles, Torres has an overall record of 6-9 this season. As one of two seniors on the team, his leadership throughout the year has been invaluable to the team.
Ivan Savkin and Ryan Torres - All-Big West First Team, Doubles
Savkin and Torres have been together for two years and have earned their second All-Big West First Team as a pair. Playing only with each other all year, the pair leads the team in doubles wins with an overall record of 11-7. Switching between number one and two doubles, the pair helped secure the Aggies an eight-match winning streak and the third seed at the Big West Championships.
Kaveh Taheri - All-Big West Second Team and Freshman of the Year, Singles
Newcomer Kaveh Taheri earned his starting spot and quickly became an essential part of the Aggie lineup. Starting at number three singles, Taheri has the second most number of wins in singles matches for the Aggies with an overall record of 10-5. He has clinched wins for the Aggies multiple times throughout the season, which helped lead to the team's overall success.
Lucas Bollinger and Kaveh Taheri - All-Big West Second Team, Doubles
Bollinger and Taheri were a new pairing this season, but found a way to click swiftly. Also switching between number one and two singles, this pair has an overall record of 9-8. Bollinger and Taheri have helped secure many doubles points throughout the season, with the second-most wins in doubles on this Aggie team.
