Box Score DAVIS, Calif.— UC Davis men's tennis closed out its home slate with a 4-0 sweep of Portland State on Friday at the Marya Welch Tennis Center, delivering a complete performance in front of the home crowd in its final match this season.
The Aggies (10-12) set the tone early and never let up, securing the doubles point behind wins on Courts 2 and 3 before carrying that momentum into singles. UC Davis picked up four straight-set victories at No. 2, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 to finish off the shutout and cap the afternoon on a high note.
HOW IT HAPPENED
UC Davis took early control in doubles play, as Kaveh Taheri and Perry DiGiulio set the tone with a 6-2 win on Court 3. Ivan Savkin and Dylan Paterson followed with a 6-3 decision at No. 2 to clinch the point and give the Aggies the early edge. In singles, Taheri extended the lead with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 2 before DiGiulio added a 6-2, 6-1 victory on Court 3. Savkin pushed the Aggies within one with a 6-3, 6-2 result at No. 4, and Nadaul Cheam sealed the sweep with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 6, as UC Davis closed out its home schedule with authority.
