Box Score DAVIS, Calif. – Double goal days from senior
Sam Yoo and freshman
Margo Tempel's fiery first-half was not enough for a triumph over the No. 6 ranked Beach during today's square-off.
Other contributors to the score included junior
Ally Smith and sophomores
Lillie Vehling and
Chelsea Johnson.
Ashley Wallin and
Maddie Sumner each made field blocks in the field to halt the Beach's 6-on-5 power. Sumner and Yoo also made two assists apiece.
Junior goalie
Lucy Holland logged all 32 minutes in the cage today, making five saves, a steal, and holding the Beach to five goals a half.
Final Score: UC Davis 7, LBSU 10
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Yoo wasted no time getting the Ags on the scoreboard; taking the first goal of the match with a powerplay advantage. Tempel gave the Ags their spark back, and tied it up 2-2 in the first quarter. Both goals were tied to perfect passes from
Chelsea Johnson's hand.
After a trading game of offensives in the court, Yoo tallied up her second goal. Tempel looped a buzzer beater on the 6-on-5, helping the Ags as they play catch up and are down by one.
Down by one in the third, Johnson and Vehling found their stride and converted the shot. In the fourth,
Ally Smith took one from the center, the last goal of the game.
UP NEXT: The team will stay in home waters as they look to host a Big West matchup versus UC Irvine at 12:00 PM on April 12th.
