Box Score SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – A conference brawl against the No. 19 UC Santa Barbara Gauchos pushed sophomore center
Bridget Miller to new levels; scoring the winning goal in the seventh quarter of play.
"It's always tough to play on the road in the Big West Conference" states head coach Kandace Waldthaler. "We prepared well for both games while still maintaining a focus on the areas of our game that we do well. I'm pleased with our composure during the game and the enrgy and toughness we played with the whole way through."
Miller,
Sam Yoo, and
Margo Tempel all logged two goals apiece, while
Sadie Henry registered a trio of goals to fuel the Aggies to victory.
Kelly Hungerford,
Gianna Nocetti, and
Chelsea Johnson also added to the tally. Nocetti turned on the jets and won all six sprints that she raced in.
Goalie
Eva Stein shut down six Gaucho scoring opportunities in the first half, while
Lucy Holland took on the role through the end of the game and had three big saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED: Setting the precedent, sophomore
Chelsea Johnson captures the first goal of the game early on for the Aggies. The conference rivals fought tooth-and-nail for the next scoring attempt, with defensive efforts in cage by
Eva Stein shutting down the Gaucho offense, allowing no goals for the first eight minutes of play. Sophomore
Bridget Miller was next to strike, broadening the gap 2-0 on the scoreboard after the first quarter.
The Gauchos found a rhythm and began to convert in the second quarter, but sophomore
Sadie Henry and senior
Sam Yoo add to the list of Aggie threats and find the back of the net to pull the team to 4-4 at half.
Nocetti has a successful beginning to the third quarter, snatching up the win for the sprint and scoring for the Ags in the first minute. Henry adds another goal, then freshman
Margo Tempel punishes the defense with two back-to-back goals to give the Ags a slight one goal lead at the end of the third.
In the fourth,
Sam Yoo scored the lone Aggie point at the end of regulation draws to a 9-9 tie, the match spilling into overtime play to settle the score. Called to action, senior
Kelly Hungerford scores first, then Henry deposits a third; her second hat trick of the weekend to elevate the Aggies 11-10 with one more quarter to play.
In the sixth, the Gauchos scored to tie up the game once more, and the pressure was on as the Big West rivals headed into a sudden victory quarter. With an assist from
Kelly Hungerford that ties her with the top spot in the record books for career assists,
Bridget Miller launches the game winning shot past the goalie, giving the Ags a huge win over the hosting team.
