The short story: Louis Grizot delivered a standout performance Friday, as the France native sits tied for second place after posting a combined 9-under through the first two rounds of the Lamkin Invitational. Behind Grizot's efforts, the UC Davis Aggies are positioned in 13th place heading into Saturday's final round.
OFF THE TEE BOX
- Grizot turned in the best performance by an Aggie this season, recording a team-high 12 birdies over 36 holes
- He finished the opening day with the second-most birdies in the field and trails leader Justin Hastings of San Diego State by just one stroke
- UC Davis excelled on par-5s, leading the field with an average score of 4.35 and finishing a combined 30-under on such holes
- Zack Tarter remained in contention throughout the day, finishing at 2-over
- Tarter's second-round 1-under 71 was highlighted by five birdies, and he was one of two Aggies to card an eagle during the first round, doing so on the 513-yard, par-5 second hole
- Shaun Nair, the other Aggie to record an eagle, finished the day tied for 78th at 7-over
- Darren Chiu finished just ahead of Nair, tied for 75th at 6-over
- After a 5-over 77 in the first round, Chiu bounced back with a 1-over 73 in the second round, opening with seven consecutive bogey-free holes
- Lequan Wang, the Aggies' top finisher in their previous tournament, rounded out the lineup at 8-over and is tied for 88th
