Davis, Calif. — UC Davis sophomore Mika Ikemori was named Big West Player of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.
This marks Ikemori's first career Big West Player of the Week honor.
She went 4-0 across 3 different matches this week. On Friday, Ikemori and her partner Daisy Maunupau beat Oregon's #1 doubles team of Tilde Jagare and Juliett Santitto, currently ranked #80 in the nation. Ikemori followed that up with a straight sets victory at #1 singles against Santitto 6-4, 6-3.
On Saturday morning, Ikemori and Maunupau won at #1 doubles against Cal State Stanislaus' Emma Yu and Annabelle Mulick, 6-3. That afternoon, Ikemori secured her fourth win of the weekend when she beat Jessup University's Briana Smith, 6-4, 6-0.
