Marakhtanova and Ikemori Given All-Big West Women’s Tennis Singles and Doubles Awards

IRVINE, Calif. Polina Marakhtanova and Mika Ikemori from UC Davis women's tennis have been awarded All-Big West singles and doubles honors, as announced by the conference on Thursday, Apr. 30. Marakhtanova was named a conference First Team Singles representative while Ikemori was given a place on the Second Team Singles team. Both athletes were honored together on the All-Conference Doubles First Team.

Collecting 12 singles wins and leading the team with six in the Big West, Marakhtanova played the majority of the season in court one, riding an eight game winning streak throughout the month of March and into the Big West Championships.

Leading the team with 13 singles wins during the season, Ikemori also won five conference games primarily in the second court. Her season was punctuated by a number of quality wins, including her first conference victory against Cal Poly on Feb. 1, a postseason win over Hawai'i on Apr. 22, and a power four win over Arizona on Jan. 16, where she gutted out a 7-5, 7-5 victory.

Playing together for 20 matches, Marakhatanova and Ikemori went 11-9 on the year, playing all of their games in the first doubles court. Highlights in their time together included a P4 win over Arizona State on Jan. 17, beating the Sun Devils 6-2, and a Big West opening victory over UC Santa Barbara on Jan. 31.

Leading the Aggies in their final year of Big West competition, the duo helped elevate the team to a number of big moments in 2025-26, including winning on the road at Hawai'i for the first time in program history.
