SPOKANE, Wash. - Putting an end to the indoor season, the women's team found themselves fifth out of thirteen competing teams after the second day of competition in Spokane.
The Ags had a trio of top-five finishes for day two, and collected two sixth place results as well.
"We had outstanding performances across the board, with a couple individual conference championships and three new school records" praises head coach Ngoni Makusha. "Our team has great potential to challenge for a conference championship this year during outdoor competition."
Senior Maddie Kackley started the Ags off on the track, completing the one mile run in fourth place with a time of 4:48.42. This event was an especially tight race, as she was only behind the first place finisher by two seconds.
For the third time this season,
Maya Shinnick shattered her own set UC Davis record in the 400 meter dash. Clocking in at a 54.16, she secured a silvery second place in the event. Sophomore
Cierra Kinsey also placed within the top ten, earning herself ninth overall with her time of 56.60.
Kackley found herself repping bronze in the 3,000 meter run, placing third overall with a time of 9:35.60 Senior
Dani Barrett also found a personal record on the day, placing eighth for her speedy 9:47.80.
Elizabeth Churchill placed eighth in the high jump, recording a 1.65 meter flight for herself. Also on the Field,
Brianna Nunn placed 20th in the shot put with 12.52 meter toss.
In the final event of the MPSF Championships, the relay powerhouse consisting of
Dominika Janik,
Ashleigh Christy,
Cierra Kinsey, and
Maya Shinnick landed at sixth for their group efforts. With a shiny time of 3:45.09, they recorded themselves as second in the Davis records, replacing the time set in 1998 and just .04 seconds shy of the first title.
