The short story:
Grace Gebhardt secured her first hat trick of the season, but the UC Davis lacrosse team suffered a road loss to the Trojans of USC.
Â
OPENING DRAWÂ
- Gebhardt's hat trick is the first for the Aggies in 2025, with all three goals coming in the second half.
- Alex Agnew added a goal and two assists on the afternoon, putting her at 96 career assists, one away from breaking the program's all-time record (Elizabeth Datino).
- Ella Brislin played effectively on both sides of the field, logging two goals while picking up a ground ball and causing a turnover.
- Annie Cimperman controlled the tempo with three won draw controls.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
- After the Trojans scored the game's first goal three minutes in, Brislin took the pass from Agnew to tie things up on her first goal of the season.
- A few minutes later, the Aggies took their first lead of the afternoon on an Agnew free-position goal.
- USC responded with a goal late in the period to see the score tied at two apiece at the end of the first quarter.
- After a defensive-heavy first five minutes of the second, Jane Fox gave her team the lead once again with her first goal of the game.
- But the Trojans went on the attack, scoring three quick goals to jump back up 5-3.
- In the final minute of the half, Brislin scored her second of the game off of a Reese Loseke assist to put the Aggies back within one.
- Quarter number three saw USC go on a 6-1 run, with the only goal for Davis coming from Gebhardt.
- Gebhardt continued her scoring in the fourth, picking up two goals in the first three minutes of the period to clinch a hat trick.
- Despite the Aggie defense holding the Trojans to only one goal in the final 15 minutes, USC would take the win 12-7.
