DAVIS, Calif. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has named Courtage as its Horse of the Month for November, honoring her years of dedicated performances, consistent excellence, and competitive spirit. After a remarkable career guiding riders to success in the ring, Courtage has now retired to enjoy life as a trail horse in the Hawaiian Islands with her owner's family.
A cherished member of the UC Davis equestrian team, Courtage was graciously donated by
Marin Gilliland and has been a cornerstone of the program for years. At 21 years young, she has competed at heights ranging from 2'3" to 3'6", guiding riders with reliability, skill, and remarkable consistency. This month, she earned
Lauren Kolbe an 81 and a win against Oklahoma State, in her final appearance during UC Davis' only home meet this month, continuing her legacy of excellence in the show ring.
Throughout her career, Courtage has earned multiple Flat MOP honors and has been a desirable draw for both Fences and Flat, performing every maneuver with ease and elegance. At the conclusion of the Fall 2025 season, she retired to Hawaii, where she now enjoys grazing under the Koolau mountain range and serving as a trail horse for her owner's family.
Courtage's long career, steady performance, and competitive spirit exemplify what it means to be an outstanding UC Davis equestrian horse and make her a deserving recipient of the ECAC Horse of the Month honor.
The Aggies closed out the fall season but will be back in the spring to kick off their next season, starting on Wednesday, Jan. 28, on the road competing against SMU.
